Blast From the Past!

Here’s something new–or rather old(!)–we’re adding to the website courtesy of Jim Tomitagawa. Blast From the Past! is a series of video clips showcasing BMX from 25 to 30 years ago and is a cool tribute to our BMX roots in Hawaii, giving us a nice glimpse of local racers and freestylers from BITD as well as some national events held here on O’ahu. Look closely and you just might see a few old timers who still rip it up today at the Sandbox.
This first segment is a jumping contest at Hawaii Raceway Park (aka Campbells) circa 1979. Too rad! Thanks JT!

AWESOME! They were hitting some retarded wooden ramp at full speed from what I remember. The guy looping out is Rockne Tang. Guys in the video that I recognize are Rockne, Miki Fernandez, Jon Ichimura (RIP brother), Guy Yoshimura, Buddy Ikeda, Moki Fernandez. I think Miki broke his collerbone in the last one when both Miki and Moki hit the jump at the same time.
